Parque Nacional Los Quetzales (Puntarenas Province)
The newest of all Costa Rica's national parks, Los Quetzales pays homege to the country's national bird - an incredibly multi-coloured chap, the resplendent Quetzal. It is also a perfect place to spot other types of birds including hummingbirds and trogons and this is the main draw to the park at the moment. However, as it becomes more established, people will also come for the breathtaking views and the sparkling rivers which are dotted about the landscape of the Talamanca mountain range. The park reaches between 2000-3000 metres in altitude meaning that the views are unforgettable and the vegetation consists of rain and cloud forests.
